Raptors will play in `Lindquist Field'

OGDEN (AP) - The northern Utah city's minor league baseball arena will open June 24, named for philanthropists John E. and Suzanne Lindquist.

Mayor Glenn Mecham made the announcement on Friday. The Lindquists donated stock that garnered $1.03 million of the baseball stadium's $4.8 million price tag.

Dedication of the 5.6-acre field will coincide with the class A Ogden Raptors' Pioneer League home-opener.

"Throughout the years, John E. Lindquist and his family have played a vital role in building the Ogden community," Mecham said. "This major contribution to the continued renaissance of Ogden's downtown is another reflection of the pioneer Lindquist family's spirit and commitment to our community."
