Eudora Scarlet Rumel, our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 8th, 1997, at her home in Holladay, Utah, to join her sweetheart of 63 years, Ken.
She was born September 28, 1911, in Sandy, Utah, to Louis Holmes Scarlet and Clarrisa E. Houston. She was raised in Hyland Boy, Portland, and Salt Lake City. She married Kenneth L. Rumel, June 27, 1930, in Salt Lake City, their marriage was later solemnized in th Jordan River LDS Temple, June 27, 1995. They resided in Salt Lake City. He preceded her in death on November 6, 1991.She is survived by two sons, Ronald K. Rumel (Gloria), Robert S. Rumel (Mary Lou); one daughter, Marlene E. Rumel Bathemess Huckabay; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Also preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Jamie Rumel, parents, and two brothers.
"Eudora's children were her greatest treasure. Her husband and sweetheart, Ken, of 63 years, was the center of her life. Her sensitivity to people's needs directed her love to all she met. Eudora as of the last few years has been very involved in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She had a loving ward, Cottonwood 12th Ward, in Holladay, and enjoyed her visiting teaching. Eudora was our family historian and created many photo albums, about each of her children, Ken, and herself. She loved writing letters. She was a beautiful artist, and sculptor, She loved gardening, crafts, and decorating her home."
Funeral services Monday, May 12th, 11 a.m., Cottonwood 12th Ward, 1750 East Spring Lane. Friends and family may call at the Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South, Salt Lake City, Sunday 6-8 p.m., and also at the ward on Monday one hour prior to the services. Interment Larkin Sunset Gardens.
