An unattended candle is being blamed for an early-morning fire that resulted in $35,000 damage to a home here Saturday.
No one was injured, but firefighters were unable to locate a puppy following the blaze, the Salt Lake City Fire Department reported.The fire broke out in a basement bedroom just before 6 a.m. at 1998 S. 1500 East, a home rented by a family of four, fire officials reported. A woman, the sole occupant at the time, awoke to the smell of smoke. It was so thick she had to dial 911 from a neighbor's house.
