Buzz slam Sky Sox
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - Jamey Ogden, Chad Rupp and Scott Stahoviak slammed home runs for Salt Lake here Saturday afternoon to spark a 17-6 victory over Colorado Springs in Pacific Coast League play.
Stahoviak popped a 3-run homer in the seventh inning, Ogden's solo shot was in the second and Rupp's solo homer was in the fourth.
Salt Lake, 18-17, was leading 6-3 at the top of the seventh, then added five runs in that inning, and six runs in the eighth.
Colorado Springs, 21-10, had trouble with its pitching, giving up a season-high 11 walks in the game.
Starter Nate Minchey gave up three runs in five innings, but the relievers handed over the ball again and again. Mark Lee pitched for one out and gave up five hits and five runs.
Third baseman Tom Quinlan pitched Colorado Springs out of the ninth on three pitches, each a groundout ball.
Salt Lake opens a four-game homestand with Edmonton Monday at Franklin Quest Field. The opener will start at 6 p.m. as to not conflict with the Jazz-Lakers NBA playoff game.
