From the blow-holes of Waikiki to the highest peak in Bora Bora, the "Reel World of the South Pacific" will be unspooled at the final screening of the current University Travel Club series Thursday, May 15, at 7:30 p.m. The screening will be in Kingsbury Hall on the lower campus of the University of Utah.

Rick Howard, the film's producer, says the film shows the "real" South Pacific.Howard focuses on a volcanic eruption that begins the building of an island. His camera takes viewers around the island of Oahu to Kamehameha's Pali, the Polynesian Cultural Center, Waimea Falls, Pearl Harbor and Waikiki Beach.

On Kauai, viewers will experience a hike along the Kalalau Rim Trail, the sea caves along the Na Pali Coast and flying over Waimea Canyon in a helicopter.

The film also looks at Molokai and Maui.

In Tahiti, viewers will see Gauguin's haunts and take a helicopter flight to Moorea and visit Papeete on Bastille Day.

Howard is a native of Southern California, growing up in the world of scuba diving, surfing and sailing. He worked as a actor, appearing in television commercials and TV shows. He graduated from California State University with a major in communications.

A shuttle bus will begin service in Rice Stadium parking lot about 6 p.m. A schedule for the 1997-98 season and season ticket order forms will be available at the Thursday screening.
