The season came to a close for the BYU women's and men's tennis teams on Saturday with a 5-0 loss to Mississippi for the women and a 4-3 disappointing loss to USC by the men.
The men's team almost pulled off a huge upset in Las Vegas by first winning the doubles point and then extending the lead to 3-2 with wins at No. 3 and 6 singles.The Cougars won the No. 1 and 2 doubles matches to take the 1-0 lead.
The Trojans tied things up 3-3 by taking victories at No. 2, 4 and 5 singles.
Boris Bosnjakovic played a long three-set match against USC's George Bastl, before losing the match 7-6, 4-6, 6-4, giving the top-seeded Trojans the 4-3 victory.
In Kansas, the 30th-ranked Cougar women lost five of the six singles matches to top-seeded Mississippi. The No. 2 singles match was suspended after Ole Miss had clinched the victory in singles.
"We played an extremely tough team today. This was still an enjoyable day and we've had a good season this year," said women's head coach Clark Barton.
Cougars Eline Chiew and Boris Bosnjakovic will compete at the NCAA national singles championships later this month.
