Charles Robert Blockburger, age 73, died May 8, 1997 in Centerville, Utah from complications of diabetes.
Charles was born January 21, 1924 to Julia May Nolan and Chriss Blockburger in Alton, Illinois. After his mother's death in 1931, Charles and his three sisters were raised in the State Orphans' Home in Atchison, Kansas. He served three years in the US Navy during World War II. He married Martence Clark in Kansas City, Missouri on December 25, 1942 (divorced); they were the parents of four children. He later married Margene H. Pace in Elko, Nevada on August 23, 1987. He was a member of the LDS Church and served an LDS mission to Tennessee in 1981. He was involved with the Boy Scouts of America for 25 years. He will be remembered as fun loving with a wonderful sense of humor. One of his greatest joys was acting the part of Santa Claus at Christmas parties. He is survived by his wife Margene; three daughters, Connie Ruth (David) Barr, Evanston, Wyoming; Joyce Kay (Charles) Cheney, Las Vegas, Nevada; Marsha Jean Awsumb, West Valley City, Utah; and one son Steven Earl Blockburger, Sandy, Utah; 22 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and eight stepchildren whom he appreciated very much.Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 13, 11 a.m. at the Centerville Stake Center, 950 North Main. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment, Centerville City Cemetery.
