After an increase in funding, Timpanogos Cave National Monument will offer more tours this year. The cave opened for the 1997 season on Sunday.
In past years, Timpanogos' funding has not kept up with its operating costs, resulting in fewer cave tours than the demand called for, said the cave's superintendent Cordell Roy. Timpanogos turned away 9,837 visitors last year."This year, we are offering nearly 10 additional cave tours per day, so we should be able to accommodate most visitors," Roy said.
Tours will run from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. seven days a week. To buy tickets in advance, call 756-5239.
