Leon Johnson's letter in the Forum on April 27 was so full of errors that I couldn't help but respond.

In the first place, it is Janet Reno's job to appoint special prosecutors. It can't be done by Congress. Republicans are requesting one to investigate contributions to the Democrats, but it won't be done unless she does it.Secondly, there is no relationship at all between what Newt Gingrich did and the contributions to the DNC and the Clinton-Gore campaign. Neither has it any relation to the soliciting of funds on government time or property. Both of which are illegal.

Gingrich was charged with 74 violations of campaign laws. All but one were dismissed. The 74th was admitted by Gingrich (now there is a real twist, an honest man). Bill Clinton has never admitted anything, even when the facts are clearly against him. The truth to him is whatever he says, even if he has to change it the next day.

The reason Gingrich is a hero, Mr. Johnson, is because he accepted responsibility for his mistake, then did something responsible. Clinton says he takes responsibility, but that is the last we hear of it. Clinton not only hasn't taken responsibility for any of his blunders, he continues to build a deceitful barrier between him and any real justice.

My answer to your cute little cliche "fish or cut bait" is it's no time to cut bait when you have a big one on the line and the net in your hand.
