Two men were hospitalized over the weekend after they were shot in separate incidents in Salt Lake City.

Jose Hernandez, 18, shot several times Saturday night. He was at 513 E. 700 South when a white Monte Carlo rear-ended his car, police say.Two men jumped out of the Monte Carlo, one with a pistol and one a shotgun. The man with the pistol shot Hernandez several times, according to police. The other man pointed the shotgun toward the sky and fired into the air.

Police arrested an 18-year-old man for investigation of attempted murder and recovered three weapons. Hernandez was listed in satisfactory condition Monday at a local hospital.

Meanwhile, a man was shot in the left buttock after an argument turned violent Sunday morning.

Clifton Ukerman, age unknown, and another man were arguing near 650 East and 300 South when Ukerman threw hot wax on the man, police said. In return, the man fired several shots at Ukerman, at least one of which hit him in the left buttock.

Ukerman was taken to the Salt Lake Regional Medical Center, where he was in good condition.
