A West Valley man was treated at a local hospital after a bullet glanced off his forehead in a drive-by shooting last week.
Samuel Leyba, 20, was treated at Jordan Valley Hospital after a bullet grazed his forehead just above his right eye as he was driving near 7800 South and Redwood Road Wednesday, said Capt. Randy Johnson.A hospital representative said Thursday Leyba had been released.
Two passengers, Leyba's sister, 17, and an 19-year-old man from Kearns, were not injured, Johnson said.
At around 11:20 p.m. Wednesday, the occupants of Leyba's vehicle and four males riding in another car exchanged words and gang signals while driving east on 7800 South near 3200 West, Johnson said.
Near Redwood Road, the occupants of the other car, driving behind Leyba's, fired two shots from a handgun, piercing a rear window and bumper, Johnson said. One bullet grazed the area near Leyba's eye.
Leyba pulled into a nearby convenience store, where a clerk called police. A patrol car was in the area at the time, Johnson said.
No arrests have been made.
