Helen Reese Hogan, born Helen Emily Reese, died May 11, from pneumonia.
Born in Salt Lake City, she was the daughter of Mabel Elizabeth Christensen and Edward Wilkie Reese.She was a graduate of the LDS High School and the University of Utah, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi. She taught elementary school in the Granite School District and at William M. Stewart lab school at the University of Utah.
She married Mervin B. Hogan, December 27, 1928 in the Salt Lake Temple. They subsequently lived in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; New Haven, Connecticut; Syracuse, New York; Phoenix, Arizona; and Salt Lake City.
A creative woman, Helen enjoyed entertaining, china painting, collecting dishes, and baking cookies. She was especially fond of her lemon tree in Phoenix and her home in Salt Lake City where she lived her last twenty-six years. She was a member of the Descendants of the Mayflower and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-eight years; her son, Edward, and daughter-in-law, Connie, of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania; and two grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Hogan and Daniel Edward Hogan.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 14, 1997 at 12 noon in the Larkin Chapel, 260 East South Temple, where friends may call one hour prior. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
