Sara Carmack, matriarch of the Carmack clan, passed away Mother's Day, Sunday, May 11, 1997. Her family was with her.

She was born Sara May Simpson, April 24, 1903 in Heber City. She was the daughter of Joanna Richarson and John A. Simpson. She attended school in Heber and at Brigham Young University. She taught school for four years. Sara married Harold N. Carmack, October 22, 1929 in Provo, Utah. The marriage was solemnized later in the Salt Lake Temple. Sara served her church well, fulfilling many callings, including three stake boards, two Relief Society presidencies, two Primary presidencies. Her specialty was Primary, where she worked for twenty-five years.Her hobbies were reading, quilting and crocheting, especially Afghans for the grandchildren, but her best handwork was her family. She bound them together with love, discipline and humor. We mourn her loss, but are grateful for her long fruitful life. She had recently celebrated her 94th birthday.

She is survived by her four children; Don (Beverlee), Bountiful; Kathleen Wilson (John), Bountiful; Brent (Nancy), Centerville; Neil (Karen), Centerville; Foster Granddaughter, Kathy Layton (Terry), Kansas City, MO.; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, two foster great-grandchildren, two foster great great-grandchildren and a sister, Lois Murdock (Bard) Hermiston, OR. Preceded in death by her husband, Harold and baby Carmack.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 15, 1997 at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, where friends may call Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday morning from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment - Bountiful City Cemetery.
