Salt Lake County Sheriff Aaron Kennard honored 10 high school students Tuesday for their academic achievement and desire for a career in law enforcement.

Southern Utah University gave scholarships to Skyline student Dawn Moyes and Hillcrest student Jason Nesbit.Kennard lauded the following students and gave them plaques:

Robert Smith, Brighton High; Melissa Tolbert, Bingham High; James Kunz, Kearns High; Eric Lucero, Cyprus High; Laura Scarborough, Granite High; Juanita Mendoza, Olympus High; Debra Neff, Cottonwood High; and Darren Lamont, Taylorsville High.

The Footprinters Association, a law-enforcement support group, picked the students from the Jordan and Granite School Districts.
