A West Salt Lake woman was shot outside her home Monday in an apparent gang-related incident, police say.

Melissa Montoya, 20, was with her boyfriend outside their home, 1196 S. 800 West, when a male rode past on a bicycle, said Salt Lake Police Sgt. Terry Morgan. The cyclist turned around, parked across the street from the home, yelled out the name of a gang and shot up to six rounds at the home, Morgan said. The shooting occurred about 9:45 p.m.

Montoya, apparently attempting to flee, suffered a gunshot wound to the right buttock, Morgan said. Bullets also pierced the home's aluminum siding.
