Karsten Manufacturing Corp., a Phoenix-based sporting goods manufacturer, filed a lawsuit accusing Walt Disney Co. of violating a trademark by giving a character in an animated movie the same name as a line of golf clubs.

Karsetn said it has held a federally registered trademark on PING golf clubs since 1959. The suit states an animated movie scheduled for release in the summer of 1998 "will include a character that disney plans to name PING."
