Nu Skin Asia Pacific announced this week that it earned record profits for the first quarter of 1997.

Revenue was up 70 percent from $124 million the company generated in the first quarter of 1996 to $211 million during the first quarter this year. Company officials say the growth was fueled by strength in the Japan market and a full quarter of operations in South Korea.Net income grew 39 percent from $14.8 million in 1996 to $20.5 million, or up from 18 cents per share to 24 cents per share.

"Our first-quarter performance demonstrates the growing strength of our distributor force, the increasing awareness and loyalty to our brands and the success of new product launches," said Steven Lund, president and chief executive officer.
