Loraine Alexander Smith slipped away peacefully, with her family by her side, May 11, 1997 of a sudden illness.

She was born February 15, 1925 in Montrose, Colorado to James and Lavone Alexander. Loraine graduated from East High School in 1942 and the University of Utah in 1946. She married Richard W. Smith in 1950 with who she had a long and loving relationship.Loraine had inexhaustible energy for and received great satisfaction from helping others. She served on the Girl Scout Council and was a member of the Ogden Junior League. She was a member of Wasatch Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder and a Deacon. Loraine also devoted many hours to the church's charitable fund raising activities as chair of the semi-annual rummage sale and as manager of the Dollars and Sense Shop.

Loraine was a devoted wife, mother, sister and aunt whose love will be missed very much.

Loraine is survived by her husband of 47 years, Richard (Dick); one daughter, Leslie (Sergei) Trubetzkoy and two sons, Richard A. and Harold W.; one brother, Robb (Gay) Alexander of Ogden, UT.; two sisters, Eleanor (Lee) Grantier of Menlo Park, CA and Rowena (William) Howe of Salt Lake City, UT and many nephews and nieces.

A memorial service will be held Friday, May 16, 1997, 12 noon at Wasatch Presbyterian Church, 1626 So. 1700 East, Salt Lake City, Utah. Friends may greet the family 1/2 hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Wasatch Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
