Already dealing with two strikes, General Motors Corp. put the brakes on a third by reaching a settlement early Wednesday with 8,500 electronics workers at its Delphi Packard Electric Systems complex.

No details were released on the agreement, which came hours after picket lines formed Tuesday.GM spokesman Jim Kobus said the terms would be withheld until the International Union of Electronic Workers had the opportunity to present the tentative agreement to its members. He was hoping workers would return to work Wednesday.
