Promised Valley Productions, which is producing the new summer production of "Barefoot to Zion," is looking for volunteers to serve as ushers, parking attendants and especially as support cast ("extras" for crowd scenes and production numbers).
Registration will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Bountiful/Woods Cross LDS Regional Center in North Salt Lake (formerly the Valley Music Hall), with auditions for singing/dancing parts scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.The musical is being produced by the LDS Church. Promised Valley Productions, formerly housed in the historic Promised Valley Playhouse, 132 State St., has a box office on the lower level of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, 15 E. South Temple, and will soon open a second box office at the regional center.
Volunteers working with the production will be called as church service missionaries and will receive complimentary tickets to the show. Those involved must be willing to establish a consistent schedule based on their availability.
Shows will run Tuesdays-Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. from June 19 through Aug. 23, with matinees at 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
According to director Charles Metten, "Whether you can serve only one night or with every show all summer long, please know that your involvement would be a welcome addition to this wonderful sesquicentennial production."
Tickets for "Barefoot to Zion" can now be ordered by calling 240-7469 or by visiting the new box office in the Smith Building. Ticket prices have been set at $2 and $4 per person so that more families can afford to attend. All seats are reserved.
