Forty-five Scouters were presented the Silver Beaver Award by the Trapper Trails Council of the Boy Scouts of America. The council has headquarters in Ogden and serves 41,000 youths and some 17,000 adult volunteer leaders in a 13-county area in northern Utah, southwestern Wyoming and southeastern Idaho. Council service centers are located in Logan and Rock Springs, Wyo.

Selected from among hundreds of nominees, award recipients were honored during a ceremony at the Ogden Tabernacle, according to Marlene Warner. She and her husband, Keith, were chairmen of the selection committee. Keith Warner was the awards presentation emcee.

The Silver Beaver Award is the highest honor to be presented by a local council and is given for "outstanding service to youth and the community."
