Estelle Lucille Platts George MacKay, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully May 14, 1997

Born January 18, 1905 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Charles and Sarah Ann Hilton Platts. She was the youngest of a family of eight, three sisters and four brothers - all have preceded her in death.She married LeRoy George June 20, 1936 (divorced). Later married Joseph Eugene MacKay July 28, 1962 in Salt Lake City; he passed away February 18, 1976. She worked as a telephone operator at Mountai Bell on PBX boards most of her life, and retired from the old Salt Lake Hardware Company. She had been an active member of the LDS Church most of her life, serving in the Relief Society as a visiting teacher, visiting teacher supervisor, and was the Church magazine representative also for many years. In addition, she served in the Mutual Improvement Association as president, counselor, and secretary. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers in Majestic Meadows Camp, where she organized her time in serving as well.

She is survived by a married daughter and son, Mrs. Royanne George Stam and husband, Gene; Keith Brent George and wife, Carol, all Salt Lake city. Additionally she is survived by five grandchildren, Wade, Clint and Joseph Stam, Randy George and Stacey George Zakotnik. There are nine great-grandchildren and two stepgrandsons, Curt and Jeff Peay.

A viewing will be conducted at the Cottonwood mortuary located at 4670 Highland Drive., Fri., 6-7 p.m., where the funeral will be held Sat., May 17, 1997, at 11 a.m., with a one hour prior viewing. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers it is Estelle's wish for contributions to be made to either the Heart Association, or the Cancer Society here in Salt Lake City. the family wishes to thank all the special nurses and aids whom provided such loving care and comfort at Heritage Bennion on her behalf.
