James Lyle Martin, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, husband and friend, passed away May 14, 1997, while peacefully surrounded by his family, after a valiant struggle with A.L.S. (Lou Gehrig Disease).
Born April 30, 1928 to Ralph B. an dFlossie R. McCarrel MArtin, Price, Utah. Married Jeanne Erickson; later divorced. Married everly Willis; she passed away April 27, 1994. Married Carol d. cook, August 1995. He was an elder in the LDS Church. Member Carbon Lodge #16, and Joppa Lodge #26, he was secretary for 11 years for Carbon Lodge #16. He served as grand commander of Utah, and commander of Knights Templar. As well as, illustrious master and illustrious high priest of Royal Arch Masons, Price, Utah. Presented with the Hiram Award for his many years of devotion and service to the Masonic Fraternity on April 30, 1994. He made it possible for many people to view and enjoy the outdoors by way of his wonderful bulldozer work, which he dearly loved and enjoyed. He owned and operated Martins Dozer Serivce, with his father, Ralph Martin, since 1947. Longtime employee of U.S. Fuel at Hiawatha, Brazatha, and columbine Mine in Scofield. Worked at the College of Eastern Utah Security and Motor Pool.Survived by: wife, Carol Martin; three sons, seven daughters and spouses. James A. and Judy Martin, Jay R. and Vicki Parker Martin, John F. and Nancy Martin, Ruby and Phillip Greer, Janet and Lew Korenko, Nelda and Brend Davies, Jenny Moosman, Jane and Terry Jaramillo, Mary and Brent Wilder, Alice and Scott Warren; 30 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, brother, Carl R. Martin, two grandsons.
Funeral services Saturday, May 17, 1997 1 p.m., Price Fourth LDS Ward Chapel. Family will be at Mitchell's Friday evening 7-9 p.m. and at the church, Saturday one hour prior to services. Interment Price City Cemetery.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
