Tuesday, May 20, will be a night of music and socializing at Abravanel Hall, as the Utah Symphony presents its annual open house at 6 p.m., followed by a free concert at 7.

Performing with the orchestra will be the Granite Youth Symphony, in a "Side-by-Side" concert that will feature youth-orchestra members playing next to their Utah Symphony counterparts.Music director Joseph Silverstein will be the conductor for a program that will feature the Utah Symphony in Strauss' "Don Juan," the Granite Youth Symphony in Dvorak's "Carnival" Overture and both orchestras in the same composer's Symphony No. 9 ("From the New World").

Included on the 6 p.m. open house will be refreshments, tours of Abravanel Hall and chances to win symphony tickets and meet the musicians.

Though admission is free, tickets are required. They may be obtained in person at the Utah Symphony box office, on the Abravanel Hall plaza.
