A Japanse mayor said Thursday he would cut his salary by half for six months for peeping into a women's bath.
Yoichiro Iino, the mayor of Kitakata, 140 miles north of Tokyo, said he would reprimand himself and take the salary cut for looking into a women's bath through a glass door last month.During an official inspection on April 18 of the newly opened spa run by his city, the 72-year-old mayor walked into the women's dressing room and peeped into the adjacent bath where some 20 naked women were bathing.
"I was worried about how the turnout would be after the free entry promotion ended," the mayor said.
