Our dear Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Friend, Margie Greathouse died from the complications of CVAs on May 25, 1997 at Delta. She was born December 28, 1905 in Kimberly, Utah to Alonzo and Eliza Young Farnsworth. She married Fred Russell Greathouse February 16, 1928. They resided in Lynndyl where they shared a good life farming and raising 10 children. Fred preceded her in death August 12, 1959. Margie continued to live on the farm until all her children were grown.
She then moved to Santa Barbara, California to be near her older sister Mary Bales. While there, she worked in a retirement home. She returned to Utah in 1975, residing in Delta until her death.Her life of setting good examples has earned deep love and respect from those that knew her. Margie was devoted to her family and loved being a homemaker. Her favorite times were the many visits from her family. She had a special love for all children and derived much pleasure from her grandchildren. She enjoyed being with people, traveling, gardening, and playing cards. During her younger years, she sewed her children's clothes. quilted, did needle point, and other crafts. She remained a loyal fan of the Utah Jazz, BYU Cougars, and Delta Rabbits.
She was an active member of the LDS Church and served as Relief Society Counselor and President. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and Jolly Stitchers.
She is survived by her 10 children: Colleen (Michael) Mickelson, Washington, Utah; Emagene (Kent) Larsen, Laguna Niguel, California; LaRae (George) Maxwell, Sandy, Utah; Cheryl (William) DeHart, Kayenta, Utah; Linda (Michael) Sandston, Van Nuys, California; Russelll (Cindy) Greathouse, Lynndyl, Utah; John (Ann) Greathouse, Omaha, Nebraska; Ronald (Margery) Greathouse, Craig (Debora) Greathouse, Denice Greathouse, all Delta, Utah; 29 Grandchildren, 29 Great Grandchildren; one Great Great Grandchild; Brother Don (Bonnie) Farnsworth, Conago Park, California; Nephew (raised as a brother); Max (Mary) Woolsey, Salt Lake City, Utah; three Sisters-in-law: Nola Greathouse, Lynndyl; Francis Farnsworth, Woodland Park, Colorado; Fern Farnsworth, Payette, Idaho. She was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, one Grandchild, one Great Grandchild, two Sisters; three Brothers; four sisters-in-law; six Brothers-in-law.
Funeral services Wednesday, May 28, 1997, at 11:00 a.m., Delta 5th Ward.. Friends may call at the Nickle Mortuary, Tuesday 7-8 p.m. and at Church on Wednesday 10-10:45 a.m. Burial in Provo Cemetery at approximately 3:30 p.m.
