James Shepherd, 52, left this world for one more long-haul run on May 4th. Jim had fought a year and half battle with bladder cancer.

Born March 27, 1945 in Salt Lake City to Frank English Shepherd and Helen Bennett Shepherd. He was a driver for Albertsons Dist. for 14 years and had driven for P.I.E. tank lines for eight years. He married LaRaine Black December 8, 1972. He is a member of St. Francis Xaviar Parish in Kearns.He is survived by his wife, LaRaine; sons, John, Brian, Tyler, Cody, all of West Jordan; daughters, Brandy, of West Jordan; Jillian, of Los Angeles, California; sisters, Carole (Eldon) Monson, Nancy (Neil) McGuire; and brother, Dan. Preceded in death by his father, mother and sister, Ann Martinez.

Jim wished to acknowledge Russ and Betty Swaner, Charles Black and his mother-in-law, Ella Thornton who were never like in-laws, but like the close family he longed for. Thanks for always being there for him. And to his driver friends that in this last year over extended themselves to him and showed him what friendship truly was. Thanks to all of you. Thanks to Allison Clarke our Hospice nurse who made his passing a true loving experience. To all the oncology staff at the University of Utah Hospital, thank you.

Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Fri, May 9, 1997 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive.

Jim have a safe trip and we'll see ya when you get back in. We love you Daddy!.
