Carol Marie Peterson Miles, 88, died May 6, 1997 from congestive heart failure.
Marie was born August 15, 1908 in Gunnison, Utah to Hyrum and Mary A. Birkinshaw Christensen. She married Alvie Peterson, December 24, 1931 which was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He died May 16, 1971. Marie later married Richard S. Miles, who died September 23, 1987.Marie is survived by daughter, Carol Peterson and husband, Don Dillingham; son, Richard (Vicky) Peterson, both of Salt Lake City; one sister, Florence Niederhauser; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and her devoted friend, LuLu.
Marie was active in the LDS Church and served in the Rose Park 5th Ward library for some 20 years. She enjoyed reading, knitting, and traveling the world.
Funeral services will be held May 9, 1997 at 11 a.m. in the Rose Park 5th Ward, 1155 No. 1200 West, Salt Lake City. Friends may call on Thursday, May 8, 1997 at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 255 So. 200 East, Salt Lake City from 6-8 p.m. and also on Friday at the church from 10-10:45 a.m. Interment will follow in the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 4th Ave. and N Street, Salt Lake City.
