We are writing in regard to the U2 concert review written by Scott Iwasaki and Jeff Vice. We must say we do not agree with the things that were said.

We don't know what concert you were at, but we were at a concert where the crowd seemed to love every minute of it. U2 went on tour to promote their new album, "Pop," not to redo the Joshua Tree Tour. U2 was not there to cater to the younger fans; they came to play their new music. We are U2 fans who love all the music they make whether it is "Gloria," "I Will Follow," "Sunday Bloody Sunday" or the so-called sappy, progressive ballad, "Staring at the Sun." If the song is so sappy, why is it played many times a day on every popular radio station in the Salt Lake market?

"Rage Against the Machine" did not get the crowd as excited as you made it sound. We seem to remember that the stadium was not even half full, and maybe a handful of those there were involved in the profanity-laced trash.

If older fans are looking for a concert full of the older songs only, they should go to a video store and buy U2's 1989 documentary movie "Rattle and Hum." They are guaranteed all the old songs, a small stage, and even front-row seats.
