Paul Willmore, 85, passed away May 5, 1997, of causes incident to Alzheimers, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Dad, the 12th child of Benjamin and Elizabeth Hamp Willmore, was born April 12, 1912 in Logan, Utah. On September 15, 1933 he married Viola Julia Quinn in Idaho Falls, ID. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple on December 1, 1933. Mother preceded him in death on February 23, 1986. He enjoyed his early years on the homestead in Naf, ID. Early schooling was in Heber City, UT, Pocatello, ID, then graduating in 1931 from Logan High School as the all around scholar and athlete. Received his BS in Civil Engineering in 1937 from the Utah State Agricultural College in Logan at the head of his class.Paul worked for WW Clyde Engineering in Utah and Wyoming; SCS in Grand Junction, CO; then for the Bureau of Reclamation in Pueblo CO, Hays and Topeka KS, Washington DC, Bismarck ND and Salt Lake City. Was also with the South East River Study Commission in Atlanta GA. A consultant to the Moroccan Government and to Peru and Saskatchewan, Canada. Retired in 1977 in Albuquerque NM from the Winter Resources Council where he was the study director for the Arkansas-White-Red Basins Inter-Agency Committee.
His main hobbies were photography, flying, golf and hiking.
Preceded in death by daughter, Sylvia M. G. Larson on May 21, 1987.
Survived by daughter, V. Kaye Nelson and her husband, Byron; son, Kenneth Paul Willmore and his wife, LeAnna, all of Bountiful, UT; 11 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; sister, Ilah W.M. Wilson, of Cortez, CO.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 10, 1997 at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 South Highland Drive, where friends may call on Friday from 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 12:45-1:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
