Eunice Nielson Hinckley, our cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, died May 6, 1997, at home following a long courageous battle with cancer.
She was born August 8, 1928 in Midvale, Utah, to Stella and Anthon Nielson. She was raised in Spring Canyon and Salt Lake. She married Arlo W. Hinckley in the Salt Lake Temple August 18, 1948. They resided in Davis County. She is survived by her husband; two sons, Kevin A. Hinckley (Cindy), Alan L. Hinckley (Terri); one daughter, Lori A. Riddle (Gary); and 12 grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Lois McCann, Arla Gray; and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and special friends, who loved and respected her and participated in her care. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; one brother and one sister.
Eunice was a devoted wife and mother who loved unconditionally and spent her life serving others. She loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and served faithfully wherever she was called. With her husband, Arlo she served full time mission in the Canada, Saskatchewan Mission and the Ireland, Dublin Mission. They loved the people they served and they left many dear ones in both areas when they returned home.
Eunice loved the beauties of the earth. She was an artist and found great joy in recreating beautiful scenery on canvas. She loved music, as well, and was a soloist in her earlier years. Her greatest joy was in loving and serving her family. Her children and grandchildren filled her life with happiness and purpose, and she shared a sweet relationship with her husband and companion of 49 years. She leaves a void in our hearts that we will try to fill by following in her footsteps.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7.
