Returned to his loving Father's arms after years of physical suffering caused by exposure to the secret Dugway radiation test in 1952.
Born June 22, 1922 in Milo Wesley and Nellie Afton Camomile Hill in Salt Lake City, Utah. Served during World War II in the South Pacific. Two brothers: Milo Wesley Hill Jr. (died in infancy); Kenneth Robert Hill, Rhode Island; two sisters, D. Loreen Thompson, Layton; and Patricia Ann Hill, Salt Lake City.Married Wanita Liedtke April 22, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple. Their children, Robin Aaron (Jolyn), Altamont; Nolan Barry (Cindy), Taylorsville; Corey Wesley, Vernal; Shawn Gilbert (preceded in death); April Cecelia (Allen) Baird, Kaysville; Ramona Gay (Paul) Phillips, Salt Lake City; Troy D. Hill, Salt Lake City and Tim L. Hill, Kaysville.
Gilbert was loved by many; most of all his 26 grandchildren. He also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by wife, Wanita; son, Shawn; granddaughter, Shuri Hill and grandson, Dana B. Hill.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 10, 1997, at 1 p.m. at Taylorsville 10th Ward Chapel, 1950 W. 4950 So. Friends and family may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 Highland Dr. and one hour prior to services at the Church. Interment: Elysian Burial Gardens.
