After months of few leads and even fewer suspects, a break in the Jill M. Allen homicide case appears to have surfaced.

Investigators say they have booked a man into jail for investigation of capital murder and burglary in connection with the death of Allen, who was killed in her apartment in August.George Anthony Taylor, 27, West Valley City, was arrested by North Salt Lake police Tuesday and booked into the Davis County Jail, Deputy Davis County Attorney Bill McGuire confirmed Wednesday. Two other men were questioned in connection with the death, but they were later released.

Investigators had few clues or suspects and a $10,000 reward was offered for any information in the case months before Taylor's arrest.

Allen, 24, was killed in her unit of the Pebble Creek Apartment complex at 850 N. U.S. 89 the night of Aug. 28, 1996. Allen's body was found by her husband, Paul, who told police he had just returned from a fishing trip.

North Salt Lake Police Chief Val Wilson refused Wednesday to release any details of the investigation or the arrest, saying only "we had something take place."

"Formal charges haven't been filed yet, but officers had probable cause and (Taylor) was arrested. Two other men were released after questioning," McGuire said. "We're still looking at the two, though; we're looking at the whole thing at this point."

When asked if Allen's husband had been arrested or questioned, McGuire would not answer. "I can't comment on that right now," he said.
