Postal Service carriers in 7,000 communities in all 50 states are participating in their annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive Saturday to collect nonperishable food that people leave near their mailboxes.

The food goes to local food banks and charities.Last year more than 45 million pounds of canned and other food was collected in the drive, organized by the National Association of Letter Carriers and supported by Campbell Soup Co.
