"Mario Puzo's The Last Don" takes viewers back where they've been before - the world of the Mafia.
But this three-part, six-hour miniseries (Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 8 p.m. on CBS/Ch. 2) doesn't exactly revise the world of "The Godfather." This time around, it's a different family and a different don (Danny Aiello).A saga that stretches from the '60 to the '90s, "The Last Don" follows the efforts of its title character to remove his family from the crime world and take them legitimate.
Of course, along the way there's plenty of murder and mayhem in this rather bloody miniseries.
The story is involving if rather uninspired in its telling. And good performances from Aiello, Joe Mantegna, Jason Gedrick and Penelope Ann Miller help make this miniseries the most watchable to date of the current May sweeps.
