A federal grand jury has indicted two U.S. residents on charges of conspiring to smuggle hundreds of thousands of weapons and weapon parts from Vietnam to the United States, prosecutors said Tuesday.
The grand jury, sitting in San Francisco, charged Curtis Debord, 43, of Reno, Nev., and Peter Tran, 29, of Portland, Ore., with conspiracy to smuggle firearms and firearm parts into the United States and conspiracy to deal in firearms without a license, the U.S. Attorney's office here said.If convicted, the defendants face a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine, according to a statement.
