A helicopter searching for an elderly hiker crashed Friday just outside Olympic National Park, killing three people and injuring the other five on board, authorities said.
Two of the more seriously injured survivors were flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, park spokeswoman Barb Maynes said. Three others were taken to a Port Angeles hospital, where they were to be kept overnight for treatment.The cause of the crash was not immediately determined.
The Bell 205-A1 chopper went down shortly before 4 p.m. in the Buckhorn Wilderness Area in Olympic National Forest.
