Fred Salanoa passed for more than 300 yards and four touchdowns and ran for another TD in just three quarters as Snow College survived a shaky beginning to beat Eastern Arizona 49-13.
The Badger defense recorded 10 sacks and had six tackles for loss to blitz the previously unbeaten and 12th-ranked Gila Monsters. Both teams had a jittery beginning and turned the ball over twice on fumbles in the opening minutes. But after the slow start, Salanoa hit Blaine Woodward and Johnny Tejada on scoring strikes of 59 and 19 yards, respectively.
Eastern Arizona countered with touchdown bombs of 88 and 52 yards, but the PAT attempt following the second score bounced off the goalpost and allowed Snow to hold onto a 14-13 lead after one quarter.
From that point, Snow's defense stiffened, holding the Gila Monsters scoreless the rest of the way.
The 10th-ranked Badgers now face their toughest test of the young season as they travel to Rexburg to face the sixth-ranked Ricks Vikings.
