More lane closures are planned for I-15 in Salt Lake County.

Wednesday, the Utah Department of Transportation will close the inside lanes of northbound and southbound I-15 between 12300 and 14400 South for about a month. The closure will reduce traffic to two lanes in each direction, as is already the case for most of I-15 between Salt Lake City and Midvale.

The road work, however, is not part of the $1.59 billion I-15 reconstruction. Crews are extending the Bangerter Highway from the west and connecting it with I-15 at about 13500 South.

The two I-15 frontage roads in the same area have already been affected. The west frontage road is closed, except to local traffic, between 12300 and 14400 South. The east frontage road is closed, except to local traffic, between 12300 and 13800 South.
