The City Council voted Tuesday night to table a proposed vehicle towing and booting ordinance until Oct. 14.

Mayor George Stewart and council members are concerned about what some perceive as predatory towing and booting practices in many of the city's apartment complex parking lots. The city wants to restrict the practice.Towing companies representatives, property managers and others pointed out several flaws in the proposed law at the meeting Tuesday.

City attorneys plan to refine the ordinance before bringing it back to the council. Officials said they want to make the law fair for everyone.
