Deseret Certified Development Co., which is licensed by the Small Business Administration to make small-business loans, approved 245 small-business loans worth $77 million in the year ending June 30, making it the largest non-banking loan provider in the state.

In releasing his annual report, Scott Davis, president, said the average loan was $236,000, and about 30 percent of the loans went to small businesses in rural Utah. The company's portfolio currently has $208 million in outstanding loans.DCDC partners with banks to complete the lending process, and in addition the borrower puts up some money to make the economic development a three-pronged approach.
