The American Fork High School band is still searching for financial help to send the group to California during Christmas break to perform in the Tournament of Roses Parade.

Each student is responsible for paying $595 for the trip, but the band still needs to raise another $120,000. The group hoped a corporate sponsor would step forward with financial help, but so far none has.The band is the first in the past 23 years from Utah to be invited to the Tournament of Roses Parade. The 200-member band includes students from Highland, Alpine, Lehi, Cedar Hills, Pleasant Grove, Lindon and Orem.

Each band member spends about 30 minutes each day practicing on their own and taking private lessons. The band practices together for about 20 hours each week. By the time the band performs at the parade each member will have marched more than 400 miles preparing for the 5-mile route.
