Edith Genevieve Nelson Blanchard, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, returned to her Heavenly Father on September 24, 1997; after a long battle with pulmonary disease, she left this world surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Salt Lake City, December 17, 1921 to Pauline Pulley and Morris Albert Nelson. She was raised and educated in Salt Lake prior to marrying George LaMar Watson, they were later divorced. That union produced a set of twin girls, Penny and Peggy. She then met and married Lloyd Thomas Blanchard, Sr. They are the parents of four children, David, Melvin, Patricia and Lloyd Thomas Blanchard, Jr. They made their home in Yakima, Washington. (Lloyd Sr. was killed in an industrial accident in 1961.)Edith loved fishing, camping, card playing and bringing pleasure to others. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed. When we meet with her again, there will be no pain. God be with you, Mom, 'til we meet again.
Edith is survived by her children: Penny (Gerald) Peterson; Peggy (Nate) Long; David Blanchard; Melvin (Caryl) Blanchard; Patricia (Richard) Mumford; Lloyd Thomas Blanchard, Jr.; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, September 27, 1997 at Jordan North 6th Ward, 3836 W. 4100 S. Friends may call Friday, 6-8 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 W. 4100 S. and one hour prior at the church. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
Burial will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
