It has been a long roller coaster ride, but on Monday, January 12, 1998, our loving Daddy got off the ride and walked into heaven.
Lane was born January 3, 1957 to Raymond W. and Bette Boice, and was their only child. He married Jolynn Egbert, his high school sweetheart and best friend, on June 9, 1977 in the Salt Lake Temple. He graduated from East High School and the University of Utah with a major in finance. Lane worked as a Commercial Real Estate Appraiser with Lang, Smith, and Boice for the past 12 years. Lane loved the church and especially loved teaching the youth. His favorite calling was when he served in the nursery. At the time of his death he was serving as the executive secretary in the Elder's Quorum. For five and a half long years Lane has struggled from a broken neck, and suffered with lymphoma for the past 18 months. The way he has faced his many trials has made him a hero to many.
Lane's family was his pride and joy. He loved family camping outings, family vacations, family reunions, and riding his bike. Lane was a perfectionist in all that he did. He always seemed to have a smile on his face and was relentless when it came to teasing and tickling. Lane was the most wonderful coach. He influenced so many kids through his coaching years of baseball, basketball and softball.
Leaving behind to carry on, Lane leaves his beloved wife, Jolynn; four children, Patrick, 17, Courtney, 15, Ashley, 13, and Parker 7; parents, Ray and Bette Boice; in-laws, Don and Arlene Egbert, and favorite sister-in-law, Karen (Glade) Butterfield.
To help us remember our dad, please write us a letter telling us of your experiences and memories of him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children of Lane Boice Trust Fund at any Bank One branch.
Funeral services for our wonderful husband, dad, and son will be Friday, January 16, at 12 noon at the Aspen Hills Ward Chapel, 9855 So. 2300 East. Friends may call Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Dr., and from 10:45-11:45 the day of the funeral at the church.
We would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the University of Utah Hospital on 5 North for all of their love and care given to Lane, especially Suzanne and Gigi and all of his special Kido's.
