Sherod Dent scored 13 points as Missouri-Kansas City beat Southern Utah 80-51 Saturday in the Mid-Continent Conference.
The Kangaroos (4-13 overall, 2-5 MVC) broke a four-game home losing streak with the victory.Southern Utah (4-12, 1-5) shot just 30 percent from the field and turned the ball over 18 times. Kenyatta Clyde led the Thunderbirds with 13 points and Tarvish Felton had 11 rebounds.
Dent led five Kangaroos in double figures, followed by Nick Richmond and Eddie Smith with 12 each, and Jimmy Keller and Jack Savage with 11 each.
Smith, Brad Mann and Dent led the Kangaroos with seven rebounds each.
Missouri-Kansas City dominated the first half, leading 43-20 at halftime. The Kangaroos had runs of 14-0 and 15-0 and scored the last 15 points of the first half.
Missouri-Kansas City shot 52 percent from the field and outrebounded Southern Utah 45-25.
The 80 points was the most the Kangaroos have scored at home this season and the 51 points by the Thunderbirds was the best defensive effort this season by Missouri-Kansas City.
The win moves UMKC to 4-13 overall and 2-5 in the Mid-Con, while SUU drops to 4-12, 1-5.
