The Jazz beat the Bulls, but their TV ratings didn't come close to the event that followed them on NBC.
According to the national overnight ratings, which represent nearly 60 percent of the nation's households, Sunday's NBA game garnered a 7.7 rating and an 18 share of the audience - respectable but certainly not spectacular. The ratings for the Super Bowl, on the other hand, were nearly six times higher. The Denver-Green Bay game pulled a 44.1 rating and a 64 share.
Locally, the numbers were much closer - and higher on both counts. The Jazz game finished with an excellent 23.5 rating and 44 share; the Super Bowl was simply astounding, garnering approximately a 48 rating and a 74 share.
