Steven Spielberg might take on the Israeli air force.

The director is thinking of making a movie that would tell the story of eight American pilots who came to Israel after the 1967 Mideast War to train Israeli pilots, Jerusalem's Maariv newspaper on Friday quoted him as saying."I love the idea because it is an amazing story," he said.

Spielberg said he got the idea after an Israeli pilot on an El Al flight from New York to Tel Aviv asked him to sit with him in the cockpit.

"I asked him about his life, and I found that he was a war hero during the Six Day War," Spielberg said. "He told me about the history of the air force, and how everything started from eight Americans. I didn't know about that."
