BASEBALL: Utah's game with Loyola Marymount was suspended midway through the eighth inning Friday due to darkness. The Utes were behind 15-13 when play ended. Play will resume today.

BYU

MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: BYU men's volleyball overpowered Cal-State Northridge in its first match of the season Friday. The Cougars won 15-11, 15-3, 15-2. Oswald Antonetti led the BYU team with 11 kills and 6 blocks. Ryan Millar added 10 kills and 5 blocks.

Weber State

TENNIS: The Weber State women's team opened the season with a 8-1 loss to 37th-ranked UNLV Friday. The Wildcats next face New Mexico State today.

FOOTBALL: Cameron Quayle, a tight end on the '97 football team, has been awarded an NCAA postgraduate scholarship. The scholarship is worth $5,000 for obtaining an advance degree and must be used within a five-year period. Quayle is an Integrated Studies major with a 3.61 GPA.
