After suffering from cancer, Daniel Tamllos, age 66, passed away January 4, 1998 at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Wattis, Utah on August 28, 1931 to Steve George and Matilda Jane Grant Tamllos. Married Joyce Ann Rasmussen on August 2, 1952. She died and he married Karen Jensen Nielsen on Oct. 5, 1984. Dan was baptized Greek Orthodox. Honorary life member Price Elk's Lodge #1550. Member of the Carbon Country Club and he was an avid golfer. Dan was employed at US Steel Corp. (Columbia Mine), Lee Norse/Ingersoll Rand, Eimco and Phillips Machine Service, Inc. until his retirement on May 2, 1997.Dan was greatly respected for his knowledge of mining and will be missed by his many wonderful friends in the industry.
Survived by his wife, Karen Tamllos, Price; three daughters and their spouses, Debra (Tony) Kourianos, Price; Dana (Roy) Cruz, Wellington; Laurie (Junior) Chapman, Salt Lake City; brother, George Tamllos, Helper; sisters, Violet Tamllos, Sacramento, CA.; Mary Lee (Tony) Kosmack, Helper; Pat (Jim) Scarcelli, Helper. Also survived by six grandchildren, one great-grandson, and many loving nieces and nephews. Stepchildren, Scott (Julie) Nielsen, Richfield; Lana (Mike) Ponzini, Helper; Brent (Pam) Nielsen, Layton; Amy Nielson, Portland, OR.; six stepgrandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, wife, Joyce, granddaughter, Candice Cruz, sister Elaine Rudman, sister-in-law, Carolyn Tamllos and step-granddaughter, Mary Rose Nielsen.

Funeral service. Wednesday, January 7, 1998, 12 noon, Mitchell Chapel. Trisagion Service Tuesday, evening at 7 p.m. at Mitchell's, where friends are welcome daily from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Family will be at Mitchell's Tuesday and Wednesday one hour prior to services. Interment: Price City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Candice Cruz Memorial Scholarship Fund at the College of Eastern Utah, Price, Ut. 84501.
