Road crews accidently punctured a natural gas line Saturday, causing an evacuation of the area.

Gas started leaking from the 6-inch pipe about 2:15 p.m., said Greg Rynders, a battalion chief with the Sandy Fire Department. Emergency crews evacuated six homes and two businesses.A tractor punctured the pipe on 9400 South and about 1400 East. The road was closed between 1300 and 1700 East for just less than two hours while the pipe was sealed. Nobody was hurt, Rynders said.
